  • Founder

Burkley James is the visionary Founder and CEO of Each One Teach One Inc. (EOTO), a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth through mentorship, education, and athletics. He established EOTO in 2004 with a mission born from personal experience—after relocating from New Jersey, where he had long been involved in creating safe spaces for kids to play basketball, Burkley recognized the same need in his new community. In response, he built EOTO to give young people, especially those without access to structured activities, a place to grow, belong, and succeed.

Under his leadership, EOTO has evolved into a respected community institution that combines academic support, life skills training, and athletic development to uplift the next generation. With a relentless passion for service and an unshakable belief in the power of opportunity, Burkley continues to lead initiatives that break barriers and change lives.

  • Director of Youth Development

Kevin Summey brings a wealth of experience in education and a lifelong commitment to youth development. He currently serves as the Director of Career and Technical Education for the Saginaw Intermediate School District, where he leads initiatives that expand innovative and alternative programming to support student success and postsecondary readiness.

Kevin began his career in 1996 as a high school teacher and basketball coach, later moving into school leadership roles, including assistant principal, principal, and program director. His work has spanned the development and implementation of major federal and state education initiatives aimed at increasing access to STEM careers, dual enrollment, and college readiness, particularly for underrepresented youth.

In addition to his professional achievements, Kevin is passionate about mentoring and building pathways for students to thrive academically and personally. He has served on various education committees and associations, helping promote positive youth engagement and mentorship.

Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University. He was named a 2022 Gerstacker Fellow by Saginaw Valley State University in recognition of his leadership in education.

A dedicated family man, Kevin enjoys traveling with his wife, Dr. Latoya Summey, and spending time with their two children, KJ and Skylar. He brings to EOTO a deep understanding of education systems, a heart for service, and a strong belief in the power of relationships to transform lives.
